I love the rustic feel of Pure Fare-- I'd give this atmosphere rating a 5/4 if I could. They've put a great deal of thought into the aesthetic of the cafe, as well as the usability of the website, and the menu items themselves.

The food is colorful and healthy, and great for vegans who shy away from mock meats and other processed foods. I haven't had any of the entrees, but I have been really happy with the sandwiches and juices I've had.

I'm not sure if they're still doing this, but last summer, they were offering 1/2 price for the previous day's packaged sandwiches, which I thought was a damn fine deal.

Nice Vibe

The atmosphere of Adobe's Roxborough location carefully straddles Southwestern kitsch and authenticity. My entree, seitan sopes, was generously sized and super tasty. I had to take half of it home because I ate too much of the chips and salsa that came as a complimentary appetizer. If you're going by car, you may have to park a few blocks away because the restaurant is located in the middle of a residential neighborhood and it looks like parking is tough around there.

When you can find Kung Fu Hoagies and Little Baby's carts at the same event, you're set. You don't even have to worry--you'll have a belly full of awesome food. My favorite flavor is Thai Peanut, with Earl Grey Sriracha as a close second. I'm really curious about the Duck Sauce flavor...

Totally worth tracking down

I get really excited thinking about how delicious Kung Fu Hoagies is. The two vegetarian owners plan to open a storefront at some point, but for now their location schedule changes weekly (the address above is where they sometimes set up on the UPenn campus). In addition to this location, they also do some days at Clark Park, and in South Philly at Passyunk and Dickinson. Find them!

Overall Really Good

While the bahn mi is my favorite main, the wakame seaweed and soba noodle salad is my favorite starter. Both are satisfying and pretty healthy. If you're in a rush, though, this place isn't the best place to go, as it is usually packed and it can take some time to get your food. They do offer a large booze selection to hold you over while you wait, though.

Super Spicy Food!

Tamarind offers a spice scale from 1-7, where 7 may very well set you on fire. If you're after a pleasant spice, opt for a 2 or 3. If you really dig spicy foods, go for a 4. If you have an unusual tolerance for spice or numbed tastebuds, go for a 5. Anything beyond that, you're signing up for something ugly.

This place is great!

The chips and salsa that the Cantina serves as a complimentary appetizer are super delicious. The salsa verde is especially tasty! Their watermelon margaritas are also really nice.

Whatever you order, make sure you get a side of collard greens-- they're amazing!
